Washington: Eric Garcetti, the United States' ambassador to India, has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first state visit to the United States will be remembered as the beginning of a "bold new chapter" in strategic relations between his country and India.
The high-profile state visit to the United States by Prime Minister Modi ended on Friday after he met with Vice President Joe Biden at the White House the previous day. With the historic agreement to co-produce jet engines in India to power military aircraft and the accord to purchase armed drones from the US to boost India's national security, the two nations' strategic alliance took a major leap forward.
Both Modi and Biden spoke highly of the strengthening ties between India and the United States, which the President described as among the "most consequential" in the world. These ties are currently stronger, closer, and more vibrant than they have ever been.—Inputs from Agencies
